    Happy New Year, peeps. 2017 is here (thank goodness), and we’ve got another incredible year of book releases ahead of us. Before we rush into the new year, though, I wanted to talk some about my favourite read of 2016. Let’s face it: 2016 was difficult.     Today is the last official day of Banned Books Week, but as the week ends, fighting censorship does not. Banned Books Week serves as a great awareness campaign for the ever-suffocating presence of book challenges and bans. Social media explodes with positive arguments fighting for “dark,” “edgy,” censored books. And while the campaign is fantastic, our fight doesn’t end in one week. The fight for fREADom continues every day of the year. It seems simple to me: if you don’t want your child to read a certain book, or you’re not comfortable reading a certain book, don’t.
