Happy New Year, babes.
I thought long and hard about how and what I wanted to say in my first blog post of 2018. So, here it is. Since 2014, when I started this blog, I have posted something new every week. In 2018, I will no longer be posting every week.
In the last year, the blog has become more of a job than a passion project, which is something I do not want the blog to be. I started writing here as a way to connect with other readers and writers; as a way to share my thoughts on my favourite books and authors. I want this blog to remain that kind of space, and in order for that to happen, I can no longer commit to posting every week.
I never want to release things that I cannot or have not put 100% of my effort into. With a weekly deadline, four years in, I find myself scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas, and those posts, I’m sure, are clearly not my best work.
This year, I have undertaken a project that will take up a massive amount of time. I am so excited to dive in head-first. However, to fulfill that commitment and blog weekly is simply not realistic. Having said all of this, it is my goal to keep this blog active, engaged, and filled with wonder. The “These Words Matter” segment will continue every month, with some really talented writers. I aim to make my own contribution at least once a month.
I hope 2018 brings wonderful things to each of you. New year, new changes. Let’s grab 2018 by the balls.
